There are so many types of lenses available on the market and deciding what you need can be quite confusing. We’ll help you choose which lenses will best meet your needs and budget while explaining the pros and cons of each.
SINGLE VISION LENSES
Single Vision Lenses are used to correct your sight for a specific single activity e.g. reading, driving, watching the TV etc. If you need glasses to correct your eyesight for more than one activity, then you may need a separate pair for each.
BIFOCAL LENSES
Bifocal Lenses create multiple uses in one pair of glasses. You look through the upper half of the lens for long distance vision e.g. walking, driving, TV etc,and the lower part of the lens for close up activities e.g. reading, writing, needlework etc. You’ll notice a line which runs across the lens separating the two prescriptions.
VARIFOCAL LENSES
Varifocal Lenses combine your distance, intermediate and reading prescriptions all on one lens and there is no visible line. The benefit is that you don’t need different pairs of glasses for different tasks e.g. reading, writing etc, however they do need some getting used to. Once you have adapted however they’re really convenient.
